There will be a group of 3 officials to hear & rule on any grievances.

A contest judge will make the final ruling on any real or questionable rules violation. Any individual or team suspected of violating contest rules will be disqualified and their entry fees forfeited.

DOG TEAM RULES

  1. Teams consist of one to four members.
  2. Contestants cannot compete on more than one team.
  3. Only one team member needs to be present at the April 24th check in (applies only if the team did not preregister).
  4. Teams cannot begin hunting until after 5 pm on April 24th. ALL members of the team must be together to start hunting.
  5. Team member substitutions will not be allowed, for any reason, after 5 pm on April 24th.
  6. The team captain is responsible for relaying all contest rules to the rest of the team. The team captain is also accountable for the team following all contest rules.
  7. This wild hog hunting contest is open to all hunters legally able to hunt feral hogs in the state of Texas. Each contestant will be required to show their current state of Texas hunting license when registering at the weigh in. Contestants not able to provide a current license will be automatically disqualified. If the individual was part of a team, the team will also be disqualified. All entry fees will be forfeited.
  8. For the purposes of this hunt, hogs are defined as feral, free ranging wild hogs.
  9. Absolutely no hunting within a high fence, game fence, or hog proof enclosure or pasture.
  10. Aircraft may not assist the teams in any way.
  11. No hogs may be entered that have been trapped, pen raised, or released for the purpose of being hunted in this contest.
  12. Pooling of hogs is not allowed.
  13. All team members and their hogs must be checked in and in the weigh in line by 1 pm on April 26th. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  14. All team members must sign in and be present at weigh in.
  15. The captain of each team may stand in the weigh in area to witness the weigh in of his/her team’s hogs. Please be respectful of contest officials and the space they need to conduct the weigh in.
  16. No alcohol permitted or display of weapons (guns or large knives) while on weigh in premises.
  17. Remember: This hunt benefits kids and they will be present at the weigh in. Anyone behaving in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner will be asked to leave.
  18. Any contestant caught cheating, attempting to cheat, or in violation of Texas game laws will result in the disqualification of the entire team. Any and all entry fees will be forfeited as well as any hogs weighed at the hunt. The individual and/or team could be banned from participating in future contests.
  19. Written grievances, along with a $50 non-refundable club donation, must be submitted to contest officials BEFORE the results are announced. This period will be during the weigh in and official review. Once the winners have been announced, the results are final and will stand.
  20. This will be a live hog weigh in only.
  21. Hogs must be dog caught or bayed and hand caught.
  22. Barr hogs will not count in the main event five hog stringer. However, they will be counted in the longest stringer (most hogs) side pot.
  23. If the hogs and dogs split into multiple bays, hunters are allowed to split with them and harvest the wild hogs. The team and dogs must completely regroup before resuming the hunt.
  24. Team members must hunt together with one pack of dogs at a time.
  25. Helpers or spectators accompanying the team are not allowed to participate in the hunt. However, they can assist team members with the retrieval and loading of tied or hobbled hogs.
  26. All hogs must be in good physical condition to be judged. Each hog must be able to walk out of a trailer and across the scales under its own power.
  27. All hogs weighed/checked in will be considered property of the contest. Contest officials reserve the right to refuse purchase of any hogs deemed unfit for sale.
  28. Food and water should be provided to captive hogs.
  29. Forced feeding, water pumping, or adding foreign objects to increase weight will be considered cheating.
  30. Absolutely no hunting dogs allowed on the ground at weigh in.

To win the Main Event: The team with the greatest combined weight of up to their five heaviest hogs 50 pounds and over wins.
Main Event tiebreaker: The team with a full five hog stringer and heaviest hog wins.
Side Pot tiebreaker: The team that checks in first at the weigh in wins.
